Golden Minerals Co was incorporated in Delaware under the Delaware General Corporation Law on March 24, 2009 and is the successor to Apex Silver Mines Ltd. The Company is an exploration stage company. The company is engaged in mining, construction and exploration of precious metals mineral properties It owns and operates Velardeña and Chicago precious metals mining properties in the State of Durango, Mexico, the El Quevar advanced exploration property in the province of Salta, Argentina, and a diversified portfolio of precious metals and other mineral exploration properties located primarily in or near historical precious metals producing regions of Mexico and Argentina. The Company's Mexican properties are subject to various governmental regulations governing health and worker safety, employment standards, waste disposal, protection of historic and archaeological sites, mine development, protection of endangered and protected species and other matters. Also it's activities related to the Velardeña Properties are subject to regulation by SEMARNAT, the Comision Nacional del Agua, which regulates water rights, and Mexican mining laws.
