Avalon Rare Metals, Inc., is incorporated on July 24, 1991 under the British Columbia Company Act. The Company is in the process of exploring and developing its mineral resource properties. These rare metals include rare earth elements such as neodymium, terbium and dysprosium, and other rare metals and minerals including lithium, tantalum, niobium, cesium, indium, gallium, zirconium and a related base metal, tin. It owns seven rare metals and mineral projects in Canada and in the United States, four of which are at advanced stages of development. The Company currently relies mainly on equity markets to raise capital to finance its exploration and development programs. On August 26, 2011, the Company filed an updated NI 43-101 technical report on the Nechalacho (formerly Thor Lake) Project entitled 'Technical Report on the Nechalacho Project, Northwest Territories, Canada' dated August 25, 2011, prepared by RPA. The Nechalacho Deposit is situated on the Company's Thor Lake property, located in Canada's Northwest Territories (NWT), 100 kilometres southeast of the capital city of Yellowknife and five kilometres north of the Hearne Channel on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. The Thor Lake property consists of five contiguous mineral leases and three claims. Currently China provides approximately 95% of the world's supply of rare earth elements. The Company's exploration and development activities are subject to regulation by governmental agencies under various environmental laws in the various jurisdictions in which it operates.
