GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Dynamic Materials Corporation is incorporated in Delaware. It is an industrial manufacturer focusing on niche markets related to the building of equipment and materials, to support the infrastructure of the process and energy industries. The Company operates in three business segments: Explosive Metalworking, Oilfield Products, and AMK Welding. The Explosive Metalworking segment provides explosion-welded clad metal plates under the Detaclad tradename. Explosion-weld cladding uses an explosive charge to bond together plates of different metals that do not bond easily with traditional welding techniques. Explosive metalworking products are used in critical applications in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, alternative energy, chemical and petrochemical, hydrometallurgy, aluminum production, shipbuilding, power generation and industrial refrigeration. Through its Oilfield Products segment, which the company also refers to as 'DYNAwell' or 'DYNAenergetics,' the company provides a range of proprietary and nonproprietary products for the global oil and gas industries. These products relate mainly to oil and gas well perforation, which is a process of punching holes in the casing of a well to enable easier and more precise recovery of oil or gas from a targeted formation. Manufactured products include shaped charges, detonators and detonating cords, bidirectional boosters, and perforating guns for the perforation of oil and gas wells. DYNAwell also distributes a line of seismic products that support oil and gas exploration activities. The Company's main manufacturing and sales operations are located in Germany. Its AMK Welding segment provides advanced welding services, mainly to the power turbine and aircraft engine manufacturing industries. The company has manufacturing facilities in the United States, Germany, France, and Sweden. Customers are located throughout the world. Its explosion-welded clad products compete with explosion-welded clad products made by other manufacturers in the clad metal business located throughout the world and with clad products manufactured using other technologies. It faces competition from alternative technologies such as rollbond and weld overlay. The Company and all its activities in the United States are subject to federal, state and local environmental and safety laws and regulations.
