Box Inc was incroproated in 2005, as Box.Net, Inc., a Washington corporation, and later reincorporated in 2008 under the same name as a Delaware corporation. In November 2011, the Company changed its name to Box, Inc. The Company provides a cloud-based, mobile-optimized Enterprise Content Collaboration platform that enables organizations of all sizes to easily and securely manage content and collaborate internally and externally. Its platform combines elegant and easy-to-use functionality that is designed for users with the security, scalability and administrative controls required by IT departments. The Company has built its platform to enable users to get their work done regardless of file format, application environment, operating system, device or location. The Company's platform integrates with the applications of its technology partners, including salesforce.com, NetSuite and others, giving its users full access to Box without leaving partner applications. It offers individuals a free basic version of Box to provide a first-hand experience of the simplicity and effectiveness of Company's service. The Company derives its revenue from three sources; subscription revenue, which is comprised of subscription fees from customers utilizing its cloud-based Enterprise Content Collaboration services that include routine customer support; revenue from customers purchasing premier support packages; and revenue from professional services such as implementing best practice use cases, project management and other implementation services. Its customers include approximately 34,000 paying organizations globally, and its deployment to date is over 60,000 users. The Company currently offers its solutions in approximately 15 languages. Its customer base includes organizations across industries, including Ameriprise Financial, Inc., Bechtel, Eli Lilly and Company, Gap, Inc., Schneider Electric and Sunbelt Rentals. The Company's competitors include EMC, IBM, Microsoft, Dropbox, and Google. As of January 31, 2014, it had approximately four issued U.S. patents and one issued Great Britain patent that directly relate to its technology that expire between 2028 and 2032. The Company registered "Box" the Box logo and certain other marks as trademarks in the United States and several other jurisdictions.
