Brookfield Residential Properties Inc was incorporated in Ontario on March 31, 2011. The Company operates in Canada, California and Central and Eastern United States market. It develops land for its own communities and sells lots to other homebuilders and third parties. It also design, construct and market single-family and multi-family homes in its own and others' communities. In each of its markets, it operates through local business units which are involved in all phases of the planning and building of its master-planned communities, infill projects, and mixed-use developments. The Master-planned communities are new home communities that typically feature community centres, parks, recreational areas, schools, commercial areas and other amenities. In an infill development, Brookfield Residential develops land and constructs homes in previously urbanized areas. These operations include sourcing and evaluating land acquisitions, site planning, obtaining entitlements, developing the land, product design, constructing, marketing and selling homes and homebuyer customer service. These business units may also develop, or sell land for the construction of commercial shopping centres in its communities.
