Boise Inc., formerly known as Aldabra 2 Acquisition Corp., was a blank check company created on February 1, 2007 for the purpose of effecting a merger, capital stock exchange, asset acquisition or other similar business combination with an operating business. The Company is a manufacturer of packaging and paper products, including corrugated containers and sheets, containerboard, protective packaging products, imaging papers for the office and home, printing and converting papers, label and release papers, newsprint and market pulp. It operates and reports its business in three reportable segments: Packaging, Paper, and Corporate and other (support services). In its Packaging segment, it manufactures and sells linerboard, containerboard, corrugated containers and sheets, protective packaging products, and newsprint. In its Paper segment, it manufactures and sells three general categories of products: communication-based papers; packaging-based papers; and market pulp. Its paper products can be either commodity papers or papers with specialized or custom features, such as colors, coatings, high brightness, or recycled content, which make them specialty or premium products. It's corporate and other segment includes corporate support services, related assets and liabilities, and foreign exchange gains and losses. This segment also includes transportation assets, such as rail cars and trucks, which it used to transport its products from its manufacturing sites. It operates in the United States but also have operations in Europe, Mexico, and Canada. Its products and services compete with similar products manufactured and distributed by others both domestically and internationally. The Company's businesses are subject to a wide range of general and industry-specific environmental laws and regulations, including laws and regulations covering air emissions, wastewater discharges, solid and hazardous waste management, and site remediation.
