Cogent Communications Holdings Inc is a facilities-based provider of Internet access and Internet Protocol communications services. It offers on-net Internet access services through its facilities.

Cogent Communications Holdings Inc was incorporated in the state of Delaware in 1999. The Company provides Internet access and Internet Protocol ("IP") communications services. Its network is designed and optimized to transmit data using IP. It delivers services to small and medium-sized businesses, communications service providers and other bandwidth-intensive organizations in North America, Europe and Asia. It offers on-net Internet access services exclusively through own facilities, which runs from network to customers' premises. It offers on-net services to customers located in buildings that are physically connected to the network. The on-net service consists of high-speed Internet access and IP connectivity ranging from 100 Megabits per second to 100 Gigabits per second of bandwidth. It provides on-net Internet access services to the corporate and net-centric customers. The corporate customers are located in multi-tenant office buildings and typically include law firms, financial services firms, advertising and marketing firms and other professional services businesses. The net-centric customers include bandwidth-intensive users such as universities, other Internet service providers, telephone companies, cable television companies, web hosting companies, content delivery network companies and commercial content and application service providers. These net-centric customers obtain services in carrier neutral data centers and in the data centers. It operates data centers throughout North America and Europe that allows the customers to collocate their equipment and access the network. The Company faces competition from incumbent carriers, Internet service providers and facilities-based network operators. The Company is subject to several government and statutory regulations.
