GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the companyย’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
ย•ย•3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rankย•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Business Description

Cedar Realty Trust Inc was formerly known as Cedar Shopping Centers, Inc. organized in 1984 as a Maryland corporation. It is a fully-integrated real estate investment trust which focuses mainly on ownership, operation, development and redevelopment of supermarket-anchored shopping centers in mid-Atlantic and Northeast coastal states. The Company's objectives are to provide to its shareholders a professionally-managed, diversified portfolio of commercial real estate investments (mainly supermarket-anchored shopping centers and drug store-anchored convenience centers), which would provide substantial cash flow, currently and in the future, taking into account an acceptable modest risk profile, and which would present opportunities for additional growth in income and capital appreciation. The Company focuses its investment activities on supermarket-anchored community shopping centers and drug store-anchored convenience centers. The competition for the acquisition and operation of retail shopping and convenience centers is highly fragmented. Under various federal, state, and local laws, ordinances and regulations, an owner or operator of real estate might be required to investigate and clean up hazardous or toxic substances or other contaminants at property owned, leased, managed or otherwise operated by such person, and might be held liable to a governmental entity or to third parties for property damage, and for investigation and clean up costs in connection with such contamination.
