CDW Corp was founded in 1984. The Company provides integrated IT solutions to small, medium and large business, government, education and healthcare customers in the U.S. and Canada. Its offerings range from discrete hardware and software products to integrated IT solutions such as mobility, security, data center optimization, cloud computing, virtualization and collaboration. Its operations are segmented into two Corporate and public. The Corporate segment caters to the needs of business customers including small, medium and large businesses. The corporate segment is further divided into a medium-large business customer channel, serving customers with more than 100 employees, and a small business customer channel, serving customers with up to 100 employees. The public segment concentrates on government entities and education and healthcare institutions. Its products are delivered through a sales force and service delivery teams consisting of more than 4,400 coworkers. It competes with resellers, manufacturers who sell directly to customers, e-tailers, large service providers and system integrators, as well as retailers. Its competitors include resellers such as Dimension Data, ePlus, Insight Enterprises, PC Connection, PCM, Presidio; manufacturers who sell directly to customers, such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Apple; e-tailers such as Amazon, Newegg, and TigerDirect.com. The Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Holdings LLC.
