China Telecom Corp Ltd along with its subsidiaries is an integrated information service company. It offers telecommunications services, including wireline voice services, mobile voice services, Internet access services, value-added services.

China Telecom Corp Ltd was incorporated under PRC laws on September 10, 2002. The Company is an integrated information service provider in the PRC. Its operating segment includes integrated telecommunications business. It offers a range of telecommunications services, including wireline voice services, mobile voice services, Internet access services, value-added services, integrated information application services, managed data and leased line services and other related services. The Company's wireline voice services include local wireline services, domestic long distance wireline services and international, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan long distance wireline services. The mobile voice services include local calls, domestic long distance calls, international long distance calls, intra-provincial roaming, inter-provincial roaming and international roaming. The Internet Access Services consist of wireline Internet access services, including dial-up and broadband services, and wireless Internet access services. The value-added services comprise mainly wireline and mobile value-added services. The wireline value-added services include wireline voice related services, such as caller ID services, Color Ring Tone services and short messaging services, or SMS. Color Ring Tone refers to a service where subscribers could customize the answer ring tone heard by the caller from a selection of songs, melodies, sound effects or voice recordings to replace the monotonous ring connecting tone. The wireline value-added services also include wireline Internet related services, such as Internet data center, or IDC, services, IP-virtual private dial-up network, or IP-VPDN, services, and Internet protocol TV, or IPTV, services. The integrated information application services consist of Best Tone services and IT services and IT application services as well as 'V-Net' services. Best Tone service provides its customers with phone number storage, enquiry and call transfer services, as well as various information needed in daily life. The managed data services mainly include services relating to optic fiber and circuits, such as optic fiber and circuit leasing; virtual private network or VPN, and bandwidth leasing. It offers managed data services as part of its total telecommunications solutions to enterprise customers, including government agencies, corporations and institutions. The Company provides other services such as sales, rental, repairs and maintenance of equipment. Its business is subject to government regulation.
