Chico's FAS Inc was founded in 1983. The Company is a cultivator of brands serving the lifestyle needs of fashion-savvy women 35 years and older. The Company's portfolio of brands currently consists of four brands: Chicos, White House Black Market (WHBM), Soma Intimates, and Boston Proper. Its brands are all specialty retailers of private label womens apparel, accessories, and related products, which are available to customers in stores, through its websites and via telephone through a call center for its catalogs. As of February 1, 2014, the Company operated 1,472 stores across 48 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. It also mails catalogs and operates an e-commerce website and a call center, which sells its merchandise nationally and internationally. The Chicos brand sells exclusively designed, private branded clothing focusing on women 40 and over with a moderate to high income level. The WHBM brand sells exclusively designed, private branded clothing focusing on women who are 35 years old and over with a moderate to high income level. WHBM offers a uniquely feminine and affordable alternative to designer apparel, selling fashionable and sophisticated clothing and accessory items, from everyday basics, to wear-to-work, to elegant occasion, primarily in black and white and related shades with seasonal color splashes. The accessories at WHBM, such as shoes, belts, scarves and jewelry, including earrings, necklaces and bracelets, are designed to coordinate with the colors and patterns of the clothing, allowing customers to easily individualize their wardrobe selections. The Soma brand sells exclusively designed, private branded lingerie, loungewear and beauty products focusing on women who are 35 years old and over with a moderate to high income level. Soma offers trend-right, inventive and expertly fitted lingerie and loungewear, with designer quality at affordable prices. The Boston Proper brand is an online and catalog based retailer of women's apparel and accessories, marketed to affluent women between 35-55 years old. The Company's boutiques are located in upscale outdoor destination shopping areas, shopping malls, and some standalone street-front locations. Its outlet stores are located in outlet centers.
