Cirrus Logic, Inc., a Delaware corporation was incorporated in 1984. It became a public company in 1989. The Company develops high-precision, analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits ('ICs') for a range of audio and energy markets. It delivers products for consumer and professional audio, automotive entertainment and targeted industrial applications including energy control, energy measurement, light emitting diode (LED) lighting and energy exploration. The Company's main product lines include: Audio Products, which include High-precision analog and mixed-signal components, as well as audio digital signal processor products for consumer, professional and automotive entertainment markets and Energy Products which include High-precision analog and mixed-signal components for energy-related applications, such as energy measurement, energy exploration and energy control systems. Audio products include analog-to-digital converters ('ADC'), digital-to-analog converters ('DAC'), chips that integrate ADCs and DACs into a single IC, otherwise known as coder-decoders, digital interface ICs, volume controls and digital amplifiers, as well as audio DSPs for consumer electronics applications such portable media players, smartphones, tablet computers, laptops, audio/video receivers and Blu-ray Disc players, home theater systems, set-top boxes, gaming devices, digital camcorders and digital televisions. Energy Products provides high-precision analog and mixed-signal ICs for targeted energy control, energy measurement LED lighting and energy exploration applications. Its products include LED driver ICs, power factor correction ICs, ADC, and DACs which are used in high-precision, energy-related applications including LED retrofit lamps, digital utility meters, power supplies and energy exploration. The Company offers products to end-customers worldwide through both direct and indirect sales channels. It competes with other semiconductor suppliers that offer standard semiconductors, application-specific standard product and fully customized ICs, including embedded software, chip and board-level products. The Company's competitors include AKM Semiconductor Inc., Analog Devices Inc., Austriamicrosystems AG, Dialog Semiconductor, Freescale Semiconductor Inc., Integrated Device Technology Inc., iWatt Inc., Infineon Technologies AG, Linear Technologies Corporation, Marvell Technology Group, Ltd., Maxim Integrated Products Inc., NXP Semiconductors N.V., ON Semiconductor Corporation, Power Integrations Inc., Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, ST Microelectronics N.V., Texas Instruments, Inc., and Wolfson Microelectronics plc. As of March 30, 2013, the Company held approximately 988 granted U.S. patents.
