Business Description

CreXus Investment Corp, was formed as a Maryland on January 23, 2008. The Company is a commercial real estate company that acquires, manages, and finances, directly or through its subsidiaries, commercial mortgage loans and other commercial real estate debt, commercial real property, commercial mortgage-backed securities, or CMBS, other commercial real estate-related assets and Agency residential mortgage-backed securities. It is also engaged in long-term sale-leaseback and build-to-suit transactions with companies in the U.S. From time to time, it also acquire commercial real property as part of its resolution of commercial mortgage loans and other commercial real estate debt where a borrower defaults in their obligations and it take title to the collateral underlying the commercial mortgage loans and other commercial real estate debt through foreclosure or other means. The Company is externally managed and advised by FIDAC, an investment advisor registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Its Manager is a fixed-income investment management company specializing in managing fixed income investments in (i) Agency RMBS, (ii) non-Agency RMBS, including investment grade and non-investment grade classes, which are typically pass-through certificates created by a securitization of a pool of mortgage loans that are collateralized by residential real properties and (iii) collateralized debt obligations, or CDOs. The Company competes with other REITs, public and private funds, commercial and investment banks, commercial finance companies, life insurance companies and other entities.
