Cypress Semiconductor Corporation was incorporated in California in December 1982. The Company designs, develops, manufactures and markets high-performance, mixed-signal, programmable solutions that provide customers with rapid time-to-market and system value. Its offerings include the PSoC programmable system-on-chip, universal serial bus controllers, general-purpose programmable clocks and memories. It also offers wired and wireless connectivity technologies that enhance connectivity and performance in multimedia handsets. It also offers a portfolio of static random access memories, nonvolatile memories and image sensor products. It serves numerous markets, including consumer, computation, handsets, data communications, automotive, medical, industrial and white goods. Its business segments are Memory Products Division, Data Communications Division; Programmable Systems Division; and Emerging Technologies. The Memory Products Division, focuses on static random access memory ("SRAM"), nonvolatile business units and general-purpose programmable clocks. The The Data Communications Division focuses on USB controllers, WirelessUSB and West Bridge peripheral controllers for handsets, PCs and tablets. Programmable Systems Division focuses on PSoC and PSoC-based products. This business segment focuses on the PSoC platform family of devices including PSoC 1, PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 and all derivatives, PSoC-based user interface products such as CapSense touch-sensing and TrueTouch touchscreen products, PSoC-based module solutions including Trackpad and Ovation Optical Navigation Sensors and automotive products. The Emerging Technologies includes AgigA Tech Inc. and Deca Technologies Inc., both of which are subsidiaries of Cypress. ETD also includes foundry business and other development-stage activities. The Company's competitors are Altera, Analog Devices, Applied Micro Circuits, Atmel, Integrated Device Technology, Integrated Silicon Solution, Lattice Semiconductor, Linear Technology, Maxim Integrated Products, Inc., Microchip Technology, National Semiconductor, Pericom Semiconductor, PMC-Sierra, Renesas, Samsung, Silicon Laboratories, Standard Microsystems, Synaptics, Texas Instruments and Xilinx. It is subject to many different international, federal, state and local governmental laws and regulations related to, among other things, the storage, use, discharge and disposal of toxic, volatile or otherwise hazardous chemicals used in its manufacturing process and the health and safety of its employees.
