GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin

••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Guru Investment Theses on DigitalGlobe Inc

Baron Funds Comments on DigitalGlobe Inc. - Aug 19, 2015

DigitalGlobe, Inc. (NYSE:DGI), a provider of satellite-based earth imagery and services, was down during the second quarter. It’s not completely clear why shares have dropped, though some investors appear concerned about potential competitors that will have products in space over the next few years. Our due diligence indicates that DigitalGlobe has a superior product and strong customer relationships, including within the U.S. defense agencies, and management has executed well so far. With shares trading at multiples below those of defense-oriented companies, we believe DigitalGlobe’s current valuation is attractive. (Randy Gwirtzman)

Baron Funds Comments on DigitalGlobe - May 12, 2014

Shares of DigitalGlobe, Inc. (NYSE:DGI), a satellite imagery provider, decreased during the first quarter as it missed earnings and lowered guidance for the 2014 fiscal year. The company experienced an unexpected slowdown in the commercial side of its business, due largely to emerging markets project delays, as well as a slight delay in the launch timing of a new imagery satellite. We believe that DigitalGlobe has a unique satellite constellation and imagery database, and has numerous opportunities to increase growth going forward. (Randy Gwirtzman)

Baron Funds Comments on DigitalGlobe - May 05, 2014

DigitalGlobe, Inc. (NYSE:DGI), a satellite imaging provider, fell 29% in the quarter after lowering their earnings outlook. The company experienced a slowdown in its commercial segment due to deferrals in projects in emerging markets. Also, the launch of a new satellite was delayed, which will push out profits. On the positive side, they reported continued success integrating their major acquisition and cost savings have expanded. Though this year's numbers will be soft, we believe that 2015 will be a banner year and expect continued cash flow growth beyond. We still like the situation, and, as a result, added to our position.
