Denison Mines Corporation, a Canadian corporation was formed on May 9, 1997. The Company conducts its business through a number of subsidiaries. It is a uranium exploration and development company with interests in exploration and development projects in Canada, Zambia and Mongolia. The Company owns a 22.50% interest in the McClean Lake uranium processing facility and uranium deposits in northern Saskatchewan, 25.17% interest in the Midwest uranium project, 60% interest in the Wheeler River project which includes the Phoenix deposits. It has an extensive portfolio of exploration and development property interests in the Athabasca Basin. It also has an interest in mineral exploration properties in Mongolia and owns the Mutanga uranium project in southern Zambia. The federal government recognizes that the uranium industry has special importance in relation to the national interest and therefore regulates the mining, extraction, use and export of uranium under the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA).
