Business Description

Diana Shipping, Inc. is a holding company incorporated under the laws of Liberia in March 1999 as Diana Shipping Investments Corp. In February 2005, the Company's articles of incorporation were amended. Under the amended articles of incorporation, the Company was renamed Diana Shipping Inc. It is a global provider of shipping transportation services. It specializes in transporting dry bulk cargoes, including such commodities as iron ore, coal, grain and other materials along worldwide shipping routes. Currently, its fleet consists of 22 dry bulk carriers, of which 14 are Panamax and eight are Capesize dry bulk carriers, having a combined carrying capacity of approximately 2 million dwt. The Company's customers include national, regional and international companies, such as China National Chartering Corp., Cargill International S.A., Australian Wheat Board (AWB), BHP Billiton and Bocimar N.V. Antwerp. It operates in markets that are highly competitive and based mainly on supply and demand. It competes with other owners of dry bulk carriers in the Panamax and smaller class sectors and with owners of Capesize dry bulk carriers. The Company's operations are subject to numerous laws and regulations in the form of international conventions and treaties, national, state and local laws and national and international regulations.
