Ellington Residential Mortgage REIT is a Maryland real estate investment trust formed in August 2012. The Company is engaged in acquiring, investing in and managing residential mortgage and real estate-related assets. It focuses on constructing and actively managing a portfolio comprised mainly of Agency RMBS, and to a lesser extent, non-Agency RMBS. As of April 17, 2013, it portfolio was comprised of approximately $230.7 million of Agency RMBS and $12.4 million of non-Agency RMBS. The Company was formed through an initial strategic venture among affiliates of Ellington, an investment management firm and registered investment adviser with an 18-year history of investing in a broad spectrum of MBS and related derivatives, with an emphasis on the RMBS market, and the Blackstone Funds.
