Employers Holdings Inc is a specialty provider of workers' compensation insurance to select small businesses in low to medium hazard industries. The Company has one operating segment, workers' compensation insurance & related services.

Employers Holdings Inc is a holding company incorporated in Nevada in 2005. The Company is a specialty provider of workers' compensation insurance to selected small businesses in low to medium hazard industries. Workers' compensation is provided for under a statutory system wherein employers are required to provide coverage for their employees' medical, disability, vocational rehabilitation, and/or death benefit costs for work-related injuries or illnesses. The Company operates as a single reportable segment and conduct operations in 33 states and the District of Columbia, with a concentration in California. The state laws generally require two types of benefits for injured employees: medical benefits, including expenses related to the diagnosis and treatment of an injury, disease, or both, as well as any required rehabilitation, and indemnity payments, which consist of temporary wage replacement, permanent disability payments, and death benefits to surviving family members. The Company competes with other specialty workers' compensation carriers, state agencies, multi-line insurance companies, professional employer organizations, self-insurance funds, and state insurance pools. Its competitors in California are AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, California State Compensation Insurance Fund, The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., ICW Group, and Travelers Insurance Group Holdings, Inc.
