GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

EMagin Corporation is incorporated in Delaware. It was created through the merger of Fashion Dynamics Corporation, which was organized on January 23, 1996 under the laws of the State of Nevada and FED Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of optical systems and microdisplays for use in the electronics industry. Simultaneous with this merger, the Company changed its name to eMagin Corporation. The Company is a manufacturer of microdisplays using OLED technology. It designs, develops, manufactures and markets OLED on silicon microdisplays, virtual imaging products which utilize OLED (organic light emitting diode) microdisplays and related products. The Company's products are sold mainly in North America, Asia, and Europe. Its virtual imaging products integrate OLED, technology with silicon chips to produce high-resolution microdisplays smaller than one-inch diagonally which, when viewed through a magnifier, create virtual images that appear comparable in size to that of a computer monitor or a large-screen television. Its products enable its original equipment manufacturer customers to develop and market improved or new electronic products. The Company derives revenue from sales of its OLED microdisplay products, optics, microdisplays combined with optics and virtual imaging systems. Small Molecule and Top-Emitting Active Matrix OLED Technology is its main Technology Platform. There are two basic classes of OLED technology, dubbed single molecule or small molecule (monomer) and polymer. OLEDs are thin films of stable organic materials that emit light of different colors when a voltage is impressed across them. Its target markets are categorized into military, industrial/medical, and consumer. Its Products include: SVGA+ OLED Microdisplay Series (Super Video Graphics Array of 852x600), SXGA OLED-XL (Super eXtended Graphics Array, 1280 x 1024); WUXGA OLED-XL (Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array, 1920 x 1200) ; VGA OLED-XL (Video Graphics Array, 640 x 480); Lens and Design Reference Kits; Integrated Modules and Z800 3DVisor. The Company generalizes its markets in two categories namely, an established market for electronic viewers incorporated in products such as viewfinders for digital cameras and video cameras which is to be developed as personal viewers for cell phones and an emerging market for headset-application platforms which include accessories for mobile devices, portable DVD systems, electronic games, and other entertainment, and wearable computers. The customers for its products include both multinational and smaller OEMs. The Company competes from legacy technologies such as cathode ray tubes (CRTs), liquid crystal on silicon microdisplays (LCOS) and transmissive liquid crystal displays (LCDs) as well as from alternative flat panel display technologies such as field emission and virtual scanning retinal displays. The Company is subject to various governmental regulations related to toxic, volatile, experimental an
