GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Enphase Energy, Inc., was incorporated as PVI Solutions, Inc. in March 2006 in the State of Delaware and changed its name to Enphase Energy, Inc. in July 2007. The Company has pioneered a fundamentally new inverter technology for the solar industry that increases energy production, simplifies design and installation, improves system uptime and reliability, reduces fire safety risk and provides a platform for intelligent energy management. To date, the solar industry has relied on the traditional central inverter approach that has remained unchanged for the past two decades. It has built from the ground up a semiconductor-based microinverter system that converts direct current (DC) electricity to alternating current (AC) electricity at the individual solar module level, and brings a system-based, technology approach to solar energy generation leveraging its design expertise across power electronics, semiconductors, networking and embedded and web-based software technologies. The Company's microinverter solution brings a system-based, technology approach to solar energy generation leveraging its design expertise across power electronics, semiconductors, networking, and embedded and web-based software technologies. The Company's microinverter system consists of three key components: its Enphase microinverter, Envoy communications gateway and Enlighten web-based software: The Company's industry Enphase microinverter delivers efficient and reliable power conversion at the individual solar module level by introducing a digital architecture that incorporates custom application specific integrated circuits, or ASICs, specialized power electronics devices and an embedded software subsystem that optimizes energy production from each module and manages the core ASIC functions; its Envoy communications gateway is installed in the system owner's home or business and serves as a networking hub that collects data from the microinverter array and sends the information to its hosted data center; and its Enlighten web-based software collects and analyzes this information to enable system owners to monitor and realize the performance of their solar PV system at the individual solar module level. Enlighten also provides an online portal specifically designed for installers to enable them to track and manage all of their Enphase enabled projects and monitor and analyze the performance of their installed systems.
