Esterline Technologies Corporation, a Delaware corporation formed in 1967, is a specialized manufacturing company mainly serving aerospace and defense customers. It designs, manufactures and markets highly engineered products. The Company serves the aerospace and defense industry, mainly in the United States and Europe. It also serves the industrial/commercial and medical markets. Its current business and strategic growth plan focuses on the continuous development of these products in three key technology segments - avionics and controls, sensors and systems, and advanced materials including thermally engineered components and specialized high-performance elastomers and other complex materials, mainly for aerospace and defense markets. Its Avionics & Controls business segment includes avionics systems, control systems, interface technologies and communication systems capabilities. Avionics systems designs and develops cockpit systems integration and avionics solutions for commercial and military applications. The Company's Sensors & Systems business segment includes power systems and advanced sensors capabilities. it develops and manufactures high-precision temperature, pressure and speed sensors, electrical power switching, control and data communication devices, and other related systems mainly for aerospace and defense customers. Its Advanced Materials business segment includes engineered materials and defense technologies capabilities. It develops and manufactures high-performance elastomer products used in a wide range of commercial aerospace, space, and military applications, and highly engineered thermal components for commercial aerospace and industrial applications. The Company's main competitors include Astronautics, BAE, Bose, Eaton, Elbit, EMS, GE Aerospace, Honeywell, IAI, L-3, Otto Controls, RAFI, Rockwell Collins, SELEX, Telephonics, Thales, Ultra Electronics, Universal Avionics Systems Corporation, and Zodiac in its Avionics & Controls segment; Ametek, Amphenol, Eaton, Goodrich, Hamilton Sundstrand, Meggitt, MPC Products, STPI-Deutsch, Tyco, and Zodiac in its Sensors & Systems segment; and Chemring, Doncasters, Hi-Temp, J&M, JPR Hutchinson, Kmass, Meggitt (including Dunlop Standard Aerospace Group), Rheinmetall, Trelleborg, ULVA, and UMPCO in its Advanced Materials segment.
