ESSA Bancorp Inc is a Pennsylvania-chartered stock holding company of ESSA Bank & Trust formed in 2006. ESSA Bank & Trust is a community-oriented savings association. It provides financial services to individuals, families and businesses. ESSA Bank & Trust's business consists of accepting deposits from the general public and investing those deposits, together with funds generated from operations and borrowings, in residential first mortgage loans (including construction mortgage loans), commercial real estate loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, commercial and consumer loans. It offers a variety of deposit accounts, including checking, savings and certificates of deposits. It also offers asset management and trust services. It also offers investment services through its relationship with Cetera Investment Services LLC, a third party broker/dealer and investment advisor. The Company offers insurance benefit consulting services through its wholly owned subsidiary, ESSA Advisory Services, LLC. The Company originates first mortgage loans for the purchase, construction or refinancing of one- to four-family residential real property. It competes for loans from commercial banks, savings banks, mortgage banking companies, credit unions, leasing companies, insurance companies and other financial service companies. The Company is subject to extensive regulation, supervision, and examination by the Federal Reserve Board, the FDIC and the Department.
