Business Description

Elephant Talk Communications Corp was incorporated on February 5, 1962 under the laws of the state of California as Altius Corporation, and was involved in the manufacturing of freeway signs. In March 1997, Altius acquired Starnet Universe Internet, Inc., a web developer and Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the Company changed its name to Staruni Corporation. On January 4, 2002, Staruni Corporation merged with Elephant Talk Limited; a company incorporated in Hong Kong, and filed a Certificate of Amendment of Articles of Incorporation to amend the corporate name to Elephant Talk Communications, Inc. This name change was done in conjunction with the merger and to emphasize that its new focus is the business of Elephant Talk Limited. Its business plan is to position itself an international telecom and multimedia content distributor in carrier grade mobile enabling platforms. It facilitates the distribution of all forms of content to the multimedia industry, as well as offer international mobile and fixed telecom services to its global telecommunications customers. The company provides telecom services, media streaming, and distribution services mainly to the business-to-business (B2B) community within the telecommunications market. The Company's global footprint as a licensed carrier, supported by its propriety Intelligent Network and Billing/Client Relationship Management Systems, has been designed to offer cutting-edge solutions to the increasingly competitive global multimedia industry. The seamless utilization of its infrastructure through its customized software offers its clients a solution due to the ease of compatibility and simplicity in the use of its product. Its development management activities are located in Gerona, Spain, while the actual development and testing is carried out by its own software engineering staff in Guangzhou (China). Its in-house proprietary Customer Relationship Management/Billing software system is the backbone of its operations. The company ensures proper support for all of its services and the reliability of data provided by these systems is the ultimate basis for enduring levels of its business customer satisfaction. Even though the Company offers a range of traditional telecom services like Carrier Select and Carrier Pre-Select Services, and Toll Free and Premium Rate Services, which have historically generated the bulk of its revenue, the future of its company lies in combining these lasting capabilities, mostly based upon fixed line access services, with mobile access services in combination with sophisticated proprietary service delivery platforms. As a licensed telecommunications carrier, the company is entitled to be interconnected with a number of incumbent operators and cable companies as well as more recently established telecom providers in over a dozen countries that provide both network origination and termination, mostly at regulated costs.
