Business Description

First Community Corporation was organized on November 2, 1994, as a South Carolina Corporation. The Company owns and controls all of the capital stock of First Community Bank, N.A., which is engaged in a commercial banking. The bank mainly operates in the state of South Carolina. The bank offers a range of traditional banking products and services for professionals and small-to medium-sized businesses, including consumer and commercial, mortgage, brokerage and investment, and insurance services. It offers a range of deposit services that are typically available in most banks and thrift institutions, including checking accounts, NOW accounts, savings accounts and other time deposits of various types, ranging from daily money market accounts to longer-term certificates of deposit. Other bank services include internet banking, cash management services, safe deposit boxes, travelers checks, direct deposit of payroll and social security checks, and automatic drafts for various accounts. The Company offers non-deposit investment products and other investment brokerage services through a registered representative with an affiliation through GAA Securities, Inc. It is also associated with Jeannie, Star, and Plus networks of automated teller machines and Mastermoney debit cards that might be used by its customers throughout South Carolina and other regions. It also offers VISA and MasterCard credit card services through a correspondent bank as its agent. It competes as a financial intermediary with other commercial banks, savings and loan associations, credit unions and money market mutual funds operating in Richland, Lexington, Kershaw and Newberry Counties and elsewhere. It is engaged in the commercial banking business from its main office in Lexington, South Carolina and its11 full-service offices located in Lexington (two), Forest Acres, Irmo, Cayce-West Columbia, Gilbert, Chapin, Northeast Columbia, Prosperity, Newberry and Camden. The Company is subject to extensive state and federal banking laws and regulations that impose specific requirements or restrictions on and provide for general regulatory oversight of virtually all aspects of its operations.
