FelCor Lodging Trust Inc is incorporated in Maryland. It operates as a real estate investment trust, or REIT. It owns interests in 66 hotels and resorts, located in major markets throughout the United States. Its portfolio consists primarily of upper-upscale hotels and resorts located in major markets and resort locations that have dynamic demand generators and high barriers to entry. Most of the hotels are operated under well-recognized brands, such as Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Fairmont, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott, Renaissance, Sheraton and Westin. The Company is the sole general partner of, and the owner of a greater than 99.5% partnership interest in, FelCor Lodging Limited Partnership, or FelCor LP, through which it held ownership interests in 66 hotels in continuing operations with approximately 18,993 rooms. Of the 66 hotels included in continuing operations, it owned a100% interest in 48 hotels, a 90% interest in entities owning three hotels, an 82% interest in an entity owning one hotel, a 60% interest in an entity owning one hotel and 50% interests in entities owning 13 hotels. In May 2011, it acquired two midtown Manhattan hotels, Royalton and Morgans, with a total of 282 guest rooms. Each of its hotels competes for guests, primarily, with other full service and limited service hotels in the immediate vicinity and, secondarily, with other hotel properties in its geographic market.
