Farmers & Merchants Bancorp Inc is a bank holding Company incorporated under the laws of Ohio in 1985. The Company along with its subsidiary, The Farmers & Merchants State Bank provides financial services to individuals and small businesses. It engages in general commercial banking business. Its activities include commercial, agricultural and residential mortgage, consumer and credit card lending activities. The Bank also provides checking account services, as well as savings and time deposit services such as certificates of deposits. Because the Banks branches are located in Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana, a sizeable amount of its loan portfolio is comprised of loans made to customers in the farming industry for such things as farm land, farm equipment, livestock and general operation loans for seed, fertilizer, feed. Other types of lending activities include loans for home improvements, and loans for such items as autos, trucks, recreational vehicles and motorcycles. The Banks primary market includes communities located in the Ohio counties of Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Williams, and Wood. The commercial banking business in this market is competitive with approximately 17 other depository institutions currently doing business in the Banks primary market. The Company competes directly with other commercial banks, credit unions, farm credit services, and savings and loan institutions in each of its operating localities. The business in which the Company and its subsidiary are engaged is subject to supervision, regulation and examination by various bank regulatory authorities.
