First Merchants Corp is a financial holding company, headquartered in Muncie, Indiana and was organized in September 1982. The Corporation, through its subsidiary, the Bank, offers financial services, including accepting time deposits, savings and demand deposits; making consumer, commercial, agri-business and real estate mortgage loans; renting safe deposit facilities; providing personal and corporate trust services; providing full-service brokerage; and providing other corporate services, letters of credit and repurchase agreements. The Corporation also operates First Merchants Insurance Services, Inc., operating as First Merchants Insurance Group, a full-service property, casualty, personal lines, and employee benefit insurance agency. The Corporation receives all of its cash from dividends paid by its subsidiaries. The Corporation's main market areas for lending are central Indiana, northwestern Indiana, northeastern Illinois, and Butler and Franklin counties in Ohio.
