1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

FS Bancorp Inc a Washington corporation, was organized in September 2011. It operates as a bank holding company for 1st Security Bank "Bank". The Bank is a relationship-driven community bank. The Bank delivers banking and financial services to local families, local and regional businesses and industry niches within distinct Puget Sound area communities. The Company is a lender with a focus on the origination of indirect home improvement loans, also referred to as fixture secured loans, home loans, commercial real estate mortgage loans, commercial business loans and second mortgage/home equity loan products. It conducts operations out of the main administrative office, two home lending offices and seven full-service bank branch offices in the Puget Sound region of Washington. It offers commercial real estate loans. These loans are secured by income producing properties, including retail centers, warehouses and office buildings located in the market areas. Its residential commercial construction lending program focuses on the origination of loans for the purpose of constructing, on both a pre-sold and speculative basis, and selling one-to-four-family residences within the market area. It also offers consumer marine loans, secured by boats. Marine loans represent the third segment of the consumer loan portfolio, with the balances decreasing in recent periods as the Company had sold marine loan pools to other investors. The Company's commercial business lending policy includes credit file documentation and analysis of the borrower's background, capacity to repay the loan, the adequacy of the borrower's capital and collateral, as well as an evaluation of other conditions affecting the borrower. The Company competes with Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Chase. The Bank is subject to applicable provisions of Washington law and to regulations and examinations of the DFI.
