1st United Bancorp is a Florida corporation. It is a financial holding company. The Company's main subsidiary, 1st United Bank, is a Florida-chartered commercial bank, which operates 21 banking centers in Florida, from Central Florida through the Treasure Coast to Southeast Florida, include, including Brevard, Broward, Hillsborough, Indian River, Miami-Dade, Orange, Palm Beach and Pinellas Counties. The Company offers a variety of traditional loan and deposit products, which it tailors to their specific needs to its customers, mainly professionals, individuals and small- and medium-sized businesses. The Company through its lending division, its commercial real estate loan portfolio includes loans secured by office buildings, warehouses, retail stores and other properties, which are primarily located in or near its markets. It originates a mix of fixed rate and adjustable rate residential mortgage loans. The construction loan portfolio includes residential real estate, commercial real estate and homeowners' association projects. Its Land loans portfolio includes exposure to land development, both residential and commercial. The Company originates consumer loans bearing both fixed and prime-based variable interest rates. It originates its loans directly through its banking centers, business bankers and residential lenders. Residential real estate secured loans are originated through its lenders who are licensed to make these loans. The Company maintains a range of deposit products, accounts and services to meet the needs of the residents and businesses in its primary service area. Products include an array of checking account programs for individuals and small businesses, including money market accounts, certificates of deposit, IRA accounts, and sweep investment capabilities. The Company's main competitors include Wells Fargo & Company, Bank of America Corporation, SunTrust Banks Inc., JPMorgan Chase & Co., Citigroup Inc., Regions Financial Corporation, BB&T Corporation, Raymond James Financial, Inc., and Bank United, Inc. The Company is registered with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System as a financial holding company under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and is registered with the Federal Reserve System as a bank holding company under the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956.
