Guaranty Federal Bancshares Inc is a Delaware-chartered corporation that was formed in September 1997. The Company is a savings and loan holding company for Guaranty Federal Savings Bank, a federal savings bank, the Bank, on December 30, 1997, in connection with a plan of conversion and reorganization involving the Bank and its then existing mutual holding company. The Bank's business has been, and continues to be, attracting retail deposits from the general public and investing those deposits, together with funds generated from operations, in commercial real estate loans, multi-family residential mortgage loans, construction loans, permanent one- to four-family residential mortgage loans, business, consumer and other loans. The Bank also invests in mortgage-backed securities, U.S. Government and federal agency securities and other marketable securities. The Bank's market areas are Greene and Christian Counties, which are in the southwestern corner of Missouri and includes the cities of Springfield, Nixa and Ozark, Missouri. The Bank offers various checking accounts, money markets, savings, fixed-term certificates of deposit and individual retirement accounts. The Bank offers a variety of deposit accounts having a range of interest rates and terms. The Company competes with community banks, regional and super-regional banking institutions, national banking institutions, and a range of other financial institutions such as credit unions, government-sponsored enterprises, mutual fund companies, insurance companies, brokerage companies, & other non-bank businesses. The Company is subject to regulation and supervision of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System under the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956.
