Greenlight Capital Re Ltd conducts its reinsurance operations through two licensed and regulated entities: Greenlight Reinsurance, Ltd and Greenlight Reinsurance Ireland, Ltd.

Greenlight Capital Re Ltd was incorporated in July 2004 under the laws of the Cayman Islands. The Company writes property and casualty reinsurance business as well as long term business. Currently, it manages its business on the basis of one operating segment, being property and casualty reinsurance. It currently offers excess of loss and quota share products in the property and casualty market. A majority of its business is sourced through reinsurance brokers. The Company's competitors include ACE Limited, Everest Re, General Re Corporation, Hannover Re Group, Munich Reinsurance Company, PartnerRe Ltd., Swiss Reinsurance Company, Third Point Reinsurance Ltd. and Transatlantic Reinsurance Company, as well as smaller companies and other niche reinsurers.
