P. H. Glatfelter Company is incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania and began its operations in 1864. The Company manufactures, both domestically and internationally specialty papers and engineered products. It manages its business as three distinct units which manufactures various specialty papers and fiber-based engineered materials including Specialty Papers with revenues from the sale of papers for carbonless and other forms, book publishing, envelopes, and engineered products such as papers for digital imaging, transfer, casting, release, postal, playing card, FDA-compliant food and beverage applications, and other niche specialty applications; Composite Fibers consists of single-serve coffee and tea filtration papers, metallized and self-adhesive labeling papers, composite laminates used for decorative furniture and flooring applications, and technical specialties such as battery pasting papers, among others; and Advanced Airlaid Materials with revenue from the sale of air laid non-woven fabric-like materials used in feminine hygiene and adult incontinence products, cleaning pads and wipes, food pads, napkins, tablecloths, and baby wipes. It competes on the basis of product quality, customer service, product development, price and distribution.
