Gold Resource Corp was organized under the laws of the State of Colorado in 1998. The company is engaged in the exploration for and production of gold and silver in Mexico. It has interest in six properties in Mexico's southern State of Oaxaca. The Company focuses on mineral production at the El Aguila Project in Oaxaca, Mexico. The Company has achieved commercial production in July 2010 at its El Aguila open pit mine with a metal concentrate containing its primary product of gold and a silver by-product. The Company's La Arista underground mine produces metal concentrates that contain its primary metal products of gold and silver, and by-products of copper, lead and zinc. During 2012, it produced a total of 90,432 ounces of gold equivalent from the El Aguila Project which was a 36.5% increase in mill production over 2011. It processed an aggregate of 282,120 tonnes of ore with an average grade of 4.3 grams per tonne gold and 355 grams per tonne silver. Exploration during 2012 was focused on the El Aguila Project with infill and step out drilling at the La Arista vein system. It also performed exploration at several of its properties, including commencing a surface exploration program on portions of the Las Margaritas property and a limited drilling campaign at Alta Gracia and El Chamizo. At Alta Gracia and El Chamizo, it is drilling from the surface at these properties focusing on previously identified drill targets. It is also conducting some underground exploration and testing at the Alta Gracia property by driving drifts and crosscuts into exposed veins. It currently holds an interest in five additional properties in Oaxaca, which the Company classifies as exploration properties; The El Rey property, The Las Margaritas Property, The Alta Gracia Property, The El Chamizo Property, El Fuego Property, The Solaga Property. Its operations are subject to extensive Mexican federal, state and local laws and regulations governing the protection of the environment, including laws and regulations relating to protection of air and water quality, hazardous waste management and mine reclamation as well as the protection of endangered or threatened species.
