Gulfport Energy Corp was organized in July 1997. Its an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company focused on the exploration, exploitation, acquisition and production of crude oil, natural gas liquids and natural gas in the United States. Its properties are located in the Utica Shale in Eastern Ohio and along the Louisiana Gulf Coast in the West Cote Blanche Bay and Hackberry fields. In addition, it has producing properties in the Niobrara Formation of Northwestern Colorado and the Bakken Formation. It also hold a significant acreage position in the Alberta oil sands in Canada through its interest in Grizzly Oil Sands ULC, or Grizzly, an equity interest in Diamondback Energy, Inc., or Diamondback. On February 26, 2014, it entered into an agreement to acquire approximately 8,200 additional net acres in the Utica Shale. It has seven rigs under contract on Utica Shale acreage. As of December 31, 2013, Company had approximately 183,00 MMBtu per day of firm sales contracted with third parties. Company's oil and natural gas operations are subject to various types of legislation, regulation and other legal requirements enacted by governmental authorities. Its oil and natural gas exploration, development and production operations are subject to stringent laws and regulations governing the discharge of materials into the environment or otherwise relating to environmental protection.
