Hallmark Financial Services Inc. was formed in the year 1987. It is a diversified property/casualty insurance group that serves businesses and individuals in specialty and niche markets. The Company offers standard commercial insurance, specialty commercial insurance and personal insurance in selected market subcategories. It focus on marketing, distributing, underwriting and servicing property/casualty insurance products that require specialized underwriting expertise or market knowledge. The Company markets commercial and personal lines of property/casualty insurance products which are tailored to the risks and coverages required by the insured. Its Standard Commercial P&C business unit underwrites low-severity, short-tailed commercial property/casualty insurance products in the standard market. The Standard Commercial P&C business unit markets its products through a network of 356 independent agents serving businesses in the non-urban areas of Texas, New Mexico, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Utah, Wyoming, Arkansas, Hawaii and Missouri. In addition its Standard Commercial P&C business unit offers occupational accident coverage in Texas through an underwriting agency that specializes in the occupational accident insurance market. The Standard Commercial Segment of its business includes Standard Commercial P&C business unit and its Workers Compensation business unit. The Specialty Commercial Segment of its business includes E&S Commercial business unit and Hallmark Select business unit, as well as certain Specialty Programs which are managed at the parent level. The Company's competitors includes Great American Insurance Group, One Beacon Insurance Company, North American Insurance Company and Service Lloyds. The Company is subject to comprehensive governmental regulation and supervision.
