The Company is a designs, develops, manufactures and markets a variety of consumer electronic hardware and software products that link TV and other video delivery technologies to personal computers and mobile devices, which facilitates and enhances home and mobile entertainment systems. Through its Hauppauge Computer Works, Inc., Hauppauge Digital Europe Sarl and PCTV Systems Sarl subsidiaries, it designs, develops, manufactures and markets analog, digital and other types of TV tuners and other devices that allow PC users to watch television on a PC screen in a resizable window. Most of its products also enable the recording of TV shows to a PC's hard disk, receiving of digital TV data transmissions, and the display of digital media stored on a computer to a TV set via a home network. The Company's products fall under three product categories: Analog TV tuners; Digital TV tuners, and combination analog plus digital TV tuner products; and Other non-TV tuner products. The Company's analog TV tuner products enable, among other things, a PC user to watch analog cable TV in a resizable window on a PC. The Company's digital TV tuner products enable, among other things, a PC user to watch digital television in a resizable window on a PC or laptop screen. There are different digital TV standards throughout the world, and it develops TV tuner products for many of these digital TV formats. Other Non-TV Tuner Products include MediaMVP(tm), Video Capture Products, Software Recording Products, WinTV-CI Common Interface Module, and Xfones Wireless Headphones for PCs and Macs. It mainly markets its products to the personal computer market, including both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh based systems. It competes against companies such as ATI Technologies Inc., a division of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. and a number of Asian and European companies. The Company's MediaMVP(tm) product competes in the consumer electronics market, where competition comes from Sony Corporation., Toshiba Corporation, Cisco Systems, Inc. and others.
