H&E Equipment Services, Inc., a Delaware Corporation was incorporated in 2006. The Company provides integrated equipment services in the United States and focuses on heavy construction and industrial equipment. It rents, sells and provides parts and service support for four core categories of specialized equipment: hi-lift or aerial work platform equipment; cranes; earthmoving equipment; and industrial lift trucks. The Company is engaged in five main business activities in these equipment categories: equipment rentals; new equipment sales; used equipment sales; parts sales; and repair and maintenance services. This helps the Company with multiple points of customer contact; to cross-sell among rental, new and used equipment sales, parts sales and services operations; and to manage rental fleet through efficient maintenance and profitable distribution of used equipment. Its infrastructure that as of February 24, 2014 includes 69 full-service facilities located throughout the West Coast, Intermountain, Southwest, Gulf Coast, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. The Company rents its heavy construction and industrial equipment to its customers on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. The rental business creates cross-selling opportunities for the Company. The Company sells new heavy construction and industrial equipment in all the equipment categories and is a distributor for the suppliers in the United States including JLG Industries, Gehl, Genie Industries (Terex), Komatsu, and Doosan/Bobcat. In addition, the Company provides ancillary equipment support activities including transportation, hauling, parts shipping and loss damage waivers. The Company serves to approximately 33,800 customers in the United States. The Company has two distinct sales forces; one is engaged in equipment rentals and the other is engaged specifically on new and used equipment sales. During the year ended December 31, 2013 approximatley 65% of the new equipment and rental fleets were purchased from three manufacturers; Grove/Manitowoc, Komatsu, and Genie Industries (Terex). The Company competes with companies such as United Rentals/Rental Services Corporation, Sunbelt Rentals, Neff Rentals and Hertz Equipment Rental, Finning and Toromont among other small, independent businesses. The Company's facilities and operations are subject to comprehensive and frequently changing federal, state and local regulations.
