GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Heico Corporation was originally established in 1957 as a holding company known as HEICO Corporation. As part of a reorganization completed in 1993, the original holding company was renamed as HEICO Aerospace Corporation and a new holding corporation known as HEICO Corporation was created. The Company through its subsidiaries is a manufacturer of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-approved jet engine and aircraft component replacement parts, other than the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their subcontractors. The Company's business is comprised of two operating segments, the Flight Support Group and the Flight Support Group. The Flight Support Group uses proprietary technology to design and manufacture jet engine and aircraft component replacement parts. These parts are approved by the FAA and are the functional equivalent of parts sold by OEMs. In addition, the Flight Support Group repairs and distributes jet engine and aircraft components, avionics and instruments for domestic and foreign commercial air carriers and aircraft repair companies as well as military and business aircraft operators; and manufactures thermal insulation products and other component parts mainly for aerospace, defense and commercial applications. The Electronic Technologies Group engages in the design, manufacture and sell various types of electronic, microwave and electro-optical products, including infrared simulation and test equipment, laser rangefinder receivers, electrical power supplies, back-up power supplies, power conversion products, underwater locator beacons, electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference shielding, high power capacitor charging power supplies, amplifiers, photo detectors, amplifier modules, flash lamp drivers, laser diode drivers, arc lamp power supplies, custom power supply designs, cable assemblies, high voltage interconnection devices and wire, high voltage energy generators, high frequency power delivery systems and high-speed interface products that link devices such as telemetry receivers, digital cameras, high resolution scanners, simulation systems and test systems to almost any computer. It purchases raw materials, mainly consisting of high temperature alloy sheet metal and castings, forgings, pre-plated metals and electrical components from various vendors. The aerospace product and service industry is characterized by intense competition. The FAA regulates the manufacture, repair and operation of all aircraft and aircraft parts operated in the United States.
