Horace Mann Educators is an insurance holding company. The Company markets and underwrites personal lines of property and casualty insurance, retirement annuities and life insurance in the United States of America.

Horace Mann Educators Corp was founded in Springfield, Illinois in 1945. The Company together with its subsidiaries, is an insurance holding company. Through its subsidiaries, the company markets and underwrites personal lines of property and casualty (personal lines automobile and homeowners) insurance, retirement annuities (tax-qualified products) and life insurance in the United States of America. The Company markets and services its products through a sales force of full-time agents trained to sell the Company's multiline products. The Company conducts and manages its business through four segments. The three operating segments, representing the lines of insurance business, are Property and casualty insurance, Annuity products and Life insurance. The Company's competitors for annuity business include The Variable Annuity Life Insurance Company, AXA; ING U.S. Financial Services; Life Insurance Company; MetLife; Security Benefit and Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association. The Company is subject to extensive regulation by the states in which its insurance subsidiaries are domiciled or transacting business.
