Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. was incorporated on August 7, 1969 in the State of Indiana. The Company is a manufacturer and provider of medical technologies and related services for the health care industry, including patient support systems, safe mobility and handling solutions, non-invasive therapeutic products for a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, medical equipment rentals and information technology solutions. The Company's comprehensive product and service offerings are used by health care providers across the health care continuum in hospitals, extended care facilities and home care settings worldwide, to enhance the safety and quality of patient care. The Company operates in three segments namely North America, Surgical and Respiratory Care and International. The North America segment sells and rents its patient support and near-patient technologies and services, as well as health information technology solutions in the U.S. and Canada. The Surgical and Respiratory Care segment sells and rents surgical and respiratory care products. The International segment sells and rents its products outside of the U.S. and Canada. The Company sells and rent its product to acute and extended care health care facilities through both direct sales force and distributors. It also sell products to patients in the home. Through its network of approximately 160 North American and 50 international service centers, and approximately 1,100 North American and 375 international service professionals. It competes on the basis of clinical expertise and resulting product clinical utility and ability to produce favorable outcomes, as well as value, quality, customer service, innovation and breadth and depth of product offerings. It competitors include: Stryker Corporation, SIZEWise Rentals, LLC, Universal Hospital Services, Inc., Rauland-Borg Corporation and among others. The Company owns a number of trademarks and service marks relating to its products and product services. The Company is subject to laws and regulations at both the federal and state levels.
