Hitachi distributes its products in Japan mainly through its own sales network. Hitachi also distributes some of its products through independent dealers. In most field sales offices, Hitachi's sales personnel specialize in the marketing of particular types of products. International marketing is conducted through overseas sales subsidiaries, joint-venture companies and unaffiliated distributors. Hitachi's business activities are subject to various governmental regulations in countries where it operates.
