James Hardie Industries PLC was originally incorporated in 1998. The Company manufactures and sells fiber cement building products such as Lap Siding, Boards, Panels, Exterior Design products & weather barriers, in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Europe. The Company market its fibre cement products and systems under various Hardie brand names, such as HardieBacker boards, and other brand names such as Artisan Lap and ArtisanTM Accent Trim by James Hardie, Cemplank and Prevail siding. The Company's fibre cement products are used in a number of markets, including new residential construction (single and multi-family housing), manufactured housing (mobile and pre-fabricated homes), repair and remodeling and a variety of commercial and industrial applications (stores, warehouses, offices, hotels, motels, schools, libraries, museums, dormitories, hospitals, detention facilities, religious buildings and gymnasiums). The Company manufacture numerous types of fibre cement products with a variety of patterned profiles and surface finishes for a range of applications, including external siding and soffit lining, internal linings, facades, and floor and tile underlayments. The Company's products are classified into various segments, namely, exterior products, colorplus technology products, interior products and weather barriers. Some of its products are HardiePlank Lap Siding, HardieShingle Siding, HardiePanel Vertical Siding, HardieTrim Boards, HardieSoffit Panels, HardieBacker 1/4" Cement Board, HardieBacker 500 Cement Board, HardieWrap weather barrier, HardieWrap Pro-Flashing, HardieWrap Flex Flashing and HardieWrap Seam Tape.
