Jive Software Inc was incorporated in the state of Delaware in February 2001. The company provides a social business software platform that improves business results by enabling a more productive and effective workforce through enhanced communication and collaboration both inside and outside the enterprise. Its platform is intuitive, easy to use, flexible and scalable, and can be provided as a public cloud service or as a private cloud solution. The company is focused on unlocking the power of the enterprise social graph — the extended social network of an enterprise, encompassing relationships among its employees, customers and partners, as well as their interactions with people and content. The company was founded in February 2001 to commercialize Jive Forums, a discussion-based Internet forums technology used by enterprises for external support communities. Between 2001 and 2005, it primarily generated revenue through the sale of Jive Forums and an internally developed instant messenger product, which subsequently contributed to the open source community. In February 2007, it launched the Jive Engage Platform. Its comprehensive Jive Engage Platform enables and improves collaboration across two principal communities: employees within the enterprise and customers and partners outside the enterprise. The company intends to continue to invest in development of its solutions, infrastructure and sales and marketing to drive long-term growth. It is in the process of transitioning of data centers from a third-party service provider to a co-located facility managed by internal network operations team. The principal elements of its strategy including: In order to grow customer base, it is investing heavily in direct sales efforts. In particular, it intends to significantly invest in sales organization in the United States, Europe and South America; It is also intends to expand current platform and extend product leadership by developing and acquiring innovative technologies and products, and leveraging the innovation of partners in the Jive Apps Market; Develop the Jive ecosystem. The company intends to continue to develop the Jive ecosystem by enabling customers and other third parties to create applications that integrate with platform. The company sells platform primarily through a direct sales force both domestically and internationally. As of June 30, 2011, it had 635 enterprise Jive Engage Platform customers, including Hewlett-Packard Company, SAP AG, T-Mobile and UBS AG, with over 15 million users within these customers and their communities. The company's primary competition currently comes from large well-established enterprise software vendors such as Microsoft Corporation and IBM Corporation.
