Jamba, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware on January 6, 2005. The Company through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jamba Juice Company, is a healthy, active lifestyle brand with a robust global business driven by a portfolio of company-owned and franchised Jamba Juice stores, innovative product platforms that utilize its JambaGO and Jamba Smoothie Station formats and Jamba-branded consumer packaged goods. It also offers great tasting, whole fruit smoothies, fresh squeezed juices, hot oatmeal, breakfast wraps, bistro sandwiches and mini-wraps, California Flatbreads, frozen yogurt, and a variety of baked goods and snacks in its restaurants. The Company has one reportable retail segment. As of January 1, 2013, there were 809 Jamba Juice stores globally, consisting of 301 Company-owned and operated stores, 473 franchise-operated stores in the United States, and 35 franchise-operated stores at international locations. It conducts various training programs for franchise partners, team members, support center staff and its leadership team on a regular basis. The Company is committed to providing only the finest smoothies, juices and other food products. It competes directly with regional smoothie stores, of which are franchises of other smoothie brands. The Company is subject to extensive and varied federal, state and local government regulation, including regulations relating to public health and safety and zoning codes.
