KB Home is incorporated in Delaware and established in 1957. In 2001, the company changed its name to KB Home. The Company operate a homebuilding and financial services business serving homebuyers in various markets across the U.S. The Company's homebuilding operations offer a variety of new homes designed primarily for first-time, move-up and active adult homebuyers, including attached and detached single-family residential homes, townhomes and condominiums. It offer homes in development communities, at urban in-fill locations and as part of mixed-use projects. The financial services reporting segment offers property and casualty insurance and, in certain instances, earthquake, flood and personal property insurance to our homebuyers in the same markets where we build homes and provides title services in the majority of our markets located within our Central and Southeast homebuilding reporting segments. The Company provide a limited warranty on all of its homes. The specific terms and conditions vary depending on the markets where we do business. The Company generally provide a structural warranty of 10 years, a warranty on electrical, heating, cooling, plumbing and certain other building systems each varying from two to five years based on geographic market and state law, and a warranty of one year for other components of a home. The Company is subject to a variety of local, state and federal statutes, ordinances, rules and regulations concerning the environment, including requirements to manage and/or mitigate storm water runoff, dust particles and other environmental impacts of our land development and home construction activities at its new home communities.
