Kearny Financial Corp is incorporated in United States. It is a federally-chartered corporation that was organized on March 30, 2001 for the purpose of being a holding company for Kearny Federal Savings Bank, a federally-chartered stock savings bank. Kearny MHC, a federally-chartered mutual holding company that is subject to regulation by the Office of Thrift Supervision, owns 70% of the common stock of the company. The Company's business is the ownership and operation of the Bank. The Bank is engaged in the business of attracting deposits from the general public in New Jersey and using these deposits, together with other funds, to originate or purchase loans for its portfolio and invest in securities. Loans originated or purchased by the Bank generally include loans collateralized by residential and commercial real estate augmented by secured and unsecured loans to businesses and consumers. The investment securities purchased by the Bank generally include U.S. agency mortgage-backed securities, U.S. government and agency debentures, bank-qualified municipal obligations, corporate bonds, asset-backed securities and collateralized loan obligations. The Bank maintains a small balance of single issuer trust preferred securities and non-agency mortgage-backed securities which were acquired through the Company's purchase of other institutions and does not actively purchase such securities. It operates from an administrative headquarters in Fairfield, New Jersey and had 41 branch offices as of June 30, 2013. Its competitors are Bank of America, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase Bank, PNC Bank, TD Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank.
