Business Description

Kearny Financial Corporation is a federally-chartered corporation that was organized on March 30, 2001 for the purpose of being a holding company for Kearny Federal Savings Bank, a federally-chartered stock savings bank. Kearny MHC, a federally-chartered mutual holding company that is subject to regulation by the Office of Thrift Supervision, owns 70% of the common stock of the company. The company's primary business is attracting retail deposits from the general public and using those deposits, together with funds generated from operations, principal repayments on securities and loans and borrowed funds, for their investing and lending activities. It invest in mortgage-backed securities, U.S. government obligations, obligations of state and political subdivisions and other securities. Its loan portfolio consists of one- to four-family residential mortgage loans, multi-family and commercial mortgage loans, construction loans, commercial business loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, and other consumer loans. It operates from an administrative headquarters in Fairfield, New Jersey and had 41 branch offices.
