L-3 Communications Holdings Inc is a Delaware corporation organized in 1997. It derives all of its operating income and cash flow from its wholly-owned subsidiary, L-3 Communications. The Company is a prime contractor in Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems, aircraft modernization and maintenance, and government services. L-3 is also a provider of electronic systems used on military and commercial platforms. The Company has four reportable segments: C3ISR, Electronic Systems, Platform and Logistics Solutions (P&LS) and National Security Solutions (NSS). C3ISR provides products and services for the global ISR market, C3 systems, networked communication systems and secure communications products. Electronic Systems provides a broad range of products and services, including components, products, subsystems, systems, and related services to military and commercial customers in several niche markets across several business areas. These business areas include marine & power systems, microwave, sensor systems, simulation & training, aviation products, warrior systems, precision engagement, security & detection and space & propulsion. P&LS provides modernization, upgrades and sustainment, maintenance and logistics support solutions for military and various government aircraft and other platforms. NSS provides a full range of cyber security, intelligence, enterprise information technology (IT) and security solutions services to the DoD, U.S. Government intelligence agencies, federal civilian agencies and allied international governments. The Company's customers include the U.S. Department of Defense and its prime contractors, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Government intelligence agencies, major aerospace and defense contractors, allied foreign government ministries of defense, commercial customers and certain other U.S. federal, state and local government agencies. The Company's operations are subject to various environmental laws and regulations relating to the discharge, storage, treatment, handling, disposal and remediation of certain materials, substances and wastes used in its operations.
