Business Description

LSB Financial Corp. was incorporated in Indiana. It is the holding Company for Lafayette Savings Bank, FSB which operates in Indiana. The Company has been, and plans to continue to be, a community-oriented financial institution. Its main business consists of attracting retail deposits from the general public and investing those funds mainly in permanent first mortgage loans secured by owner-occupied, one- to four-family residences, and to a lesser extent, non-owner occupied one- to four-family residential, commercial real estate, multi-family, construction and development, consumer and commercial business loans. They currently serve Tippecanoe County, Indiana and its surrounding counties through its retail banking offices. Its main lending activity is the origination of conventional mortgage loans for the purpose of purchasing, constructing, or refinancing owner-occupied one- to four-family residential real estate located in its main market area. Its lending program focuses on the origination of permanent loans secured by mortgages on owner-occupied, one- to four-family residences. It also originates loans secured by non-owner occupied, one- to four-family residences, fixed rate mortgage loans to owner-occupants with maturities up to 30 years and which conform to Freddie Mac standards. The Company originates permanent loans secured by multi-family and commercial real estate. Its permanent multi-family and commercial real estate loan portfolio includes loans secured by apartment buildings, office buildings, churches, warehouses, retail stores, restaurants, shopping centers, small business facilities and farm properties, most of which are located within its main market area. It makes construction loans to individuals for the construction of its residences as well as to builders and developers for the construction of one- to four-family residences, multi-family dwellings and commercial real estate projects. It originates a variety of different types of consumer loans, including home equity loans, direct automobile loans, home improvement loans, deposit account loans and other secured and unsecured loans for household and personal purposes. Its main sources of funds are deposits, repayment and prepayment of loans, interest earned on or maturation of investment securities and short-term investments, borrowings and funds provided from operations. The Company offers a variety of deposit accounts which consist of statement savings accounts, money market accounts, NOW accounts and certificate accounts. It faces competition, both in originating real estate and other loans and in attracting deposits.
