Material Sciences Corporation designs, manufactures and markets material-based solutions for acoustical and coated applications. The Company operates three manufacturing plants in the United States and Europe: one facility in Elk Grove Village, Illinois; one facility in Walbridge, Ohio; and one facility in Eisenach, Germany. It also operates two research and development facilities: one in Canton, Michigan and one co-located with its manufacturing facility in Eisenach, Germany. The Company is a supplier of engineered material-based solutions. Its Acoustical Material-Based Solutions business develops and manufactures continuously processed materials that provide mass-efficient solutions to reduce noise and vibration. Its Coated Material-Based Solutions business conducts research and development and new product and process development activities involving the continuous, high-speed, roll-to-roll coating of metal. The markets for its material-based solutions—both acoustical and coated—are highly competitive, both domestically and internationally.
